The Fundamental Constitutions of Carolina
The Fundamental Constitutions of Carolina outlined that Carolina would be divided into square counties because the population was increasing.This document enabled the Lord Proprietors feudal powers when they were governing their county. In each county, it would be subdivided and assigned to the people in the nobility class. The nobility class could hire their own laborers to work the lands.The remainders of the counties would be granted to the freemen. The Fundamental Constitutions of Carolina also had local courts to hold a trial for people who commit a crime.
